SEFCU/Broadview

SEFCU is a regional credit union and a division of Broadview Federal Credit Union that provides a range of commercial and retail banking and financial services to individuals and businesses with approximately 55 branch locations in the New York state area.

PLANNET has been assisting SEFCU for a number of years as a technology advisor and independent consultant in support of various sourcing and project management capacities. Past projects have included core network and firewall sourcing and implementation oversight, secondary data center sourcing and migration, cloud-based voice system sourcing and oversight, Citrix VDI MSP sourcing and transition oversight, and various security tools sourcing and oversight.

PLANNET’s first project with SEFCU was a data center UPS assessment which then led to data center strategy consulting, which included sourcing for disaster recovery data center facilities, migration planning, and execution oversight.

Along with the original scope, PLANNET has partnered with SEFCU on the migration of telephony systems (back office and contact center) to cloud-based services and SIP trunking, including business case and cost justifications, WAN carrier services, resulting in higher-speed, fiber-based data connections with redundancy, upgraded network core components, and firewalls, as well as other security tools, such as network access control, advanced threat detection, web filtering, data loss prevention. Further SOW included sourcing for a new wireless platform, assistance with redesign of the data warehouse infrastructure, sourcing for virtual desktop infrastructure solutions to securely deliver enterprise applications, including implementation oversight, and program management to support lifecycle asset management/ migration of data center assets to a cloud infrastructure.

For several years in an ongoing program management capacity, PLANNET has contributed to strategic planning (3-year planning horizon) and assistance with IT asset lifecycle planning, as well as ongoing efforts to manage the migration of certain enterprise applications and support systems to cloud services.

Since early in 2022, PLANNET has been engaged in program management duties for the merger of SEFCU and CAP COM federal credit unions to a new combined entity known as Broadview Federal Credit Union, serving the New York capital district and the broader upstate New York region. The PLANNET team is now helping with program management of the IT infrastructure portion of the merger, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024.
