MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
PLANNET led the IT infrastructure solutions architecture and implementation, in partnership with Top Tier Consulting (T2C), for the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital (MLK-LA). The hospital, originally closed in 2007, leaving the South Los Angeles area without convenient access to critical care, was designed to be a “hospital of the future,” utilizing technology to deliver effective and efficient healthcare services.
The technology strategy balances core healthcare systems and advanced capabilities such as Tele-ICU and Interactive Patient Care (IPC). Provisioning for strategic growth, PLANNET designed a scalable, flexible infrastructure that meets the requirements of a high-technology hospital, including advanced integration of medical devices with the patient’s electronic medical record, incorporation of mobile applications into daily nurse and physician workflow, and coordination of care with surrounding community clinics in order to meet today’s high standard of care and patient safety.
PLANNET designed and oversaw the implementation of the IT Infrastructure, which included: rack, cable, network, server, and storage systems. PLANNET designed the operating environment (MS servers and directory, VMware virtualization, network security, EMC backup, archive, etc.). These are used for the normal “enterprise” applications and the enabler for the EMR system (Cerner) and other medical-related IT services.
In addition, PLANNET worked on the Medical Center’s new data center providing data center strategy development, engineering due diligence, MEP basis of design, space planning, network operations design, cable infrastructure, and network engineering.
