The Broad
The Broad Museum is a contemporary art museum in downtown Los Angeles that offers free admission to the public. The Broad Foundation brought PLANNET on board to work on the physical infrastructure, audiovisual infrastructure, and systems as part of the project team.
The 46,000 SF museum, which is home to more than 2,000 works of art, had some complex requirements for its audiovisual infrastructure. PLANNET designed a fully- flexible digital video and audio patching system for the floors and ceilings of the galleries so that the Broad’s extensive collection of audiovisual artwork is supported in various locations. The challenge of accommodating decades-old analog technologies like CRT projectors alongside digital 4k resolution sources was overcome by a robust design that featured HDBaseT conversion.
Additionally, the PLANNET team designed the keynote conference and presentation space located just inside the iconic “oculus” on the east side of the building. This system includes surround sound, live audio mixing, several presentation locations, DLP projection, distributed ceiling speakers, and touch panel/ iPad control.
