PlanNet lead the effort in completing a Campus Infrastructure Upgrade for Amgen, a Fortune 500 Pharmaceutical company. The upgrade of Amgen’s technology equipment rooms and communications cabling at their Thousand Oaks campus was completed during the 2011 calendar year.
The PlanNet project management team included strong support from their subcontractor JKL Technologies as JKL is very familiar with the campus and currently manages help desk functions and cabling moves, adds and changes. PlanNet was responsible for the project management of the infrastructure upgrades required to support the next generation technology equipment upgrades for voice, data and wireless in 28 buildings. The scope of work included upgrades of 102 IT equipment rooms and over 12,000 workstation outlet upgrades. PlanNet managed the project, overseeing the work of 5 contractors, coordinating installations in Amgen’s administrative buildings, lab buildings, and manufacturing spaces.
The biggest challenge of the project was completing the upgrades without impacting ongoing building operations. Upgrades were completed during evening and weekend hours after detailed schedule coordination was completed with building user groups, security, facilities and IT.
