As we ring in the New Year, the PLANNET team wants to take time to reflect on and celebrate our clients’ success and outstanding work and service not only in our local communities but also around the world.
This past year, PLANNET partner, Journey Out, was selected as a 2022 California Nonprofit of the Year. The organization is one of the select nonprofits honored by their state senators and assembly members for their impactful work and the value that they add to the communities they serve. “It is our hope that this recognition will grow our networks of support so that the services we offer to 300 plus clients can continue to expand.” – Nayeli May, Executive Director, Journey Out. Journey Out’s mission is to provide direct services that help victims of commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking leave a life of abuse and violence, and empower them to reach their full potential and goals.
In the education sector, PLANNET has continued to partner with the Samueli Academy, a tuition-free and open to all school that focuses on core competencies such as work-based learning, college readiness, state-of-the-art technology, project-based learning, and after-school programs. The PLANNET team has worked with architect LPA on the academic buildings and Lennar (WHA architect) on Samueli Academy’s residential village for foster youth who need a stable living environment to support their academic endeavors. The Academy, located in Orange County, aims to help students graduate and break the cycle of generational poverty and abuse. Since its initial freshman class in 2013, the school has expanded each year. It now serves grades 7-12 and ranks among the top 5% of high schools in California and the United States, boasting an astonishing 100% graduation and 83% college acceptance rates.
International powerhouse, Sony Pictures, has relied on PLANNET’s entertainment industry knowledge and technology expertise on a wide range of projects spanning several years, with the most recent being initiated in 2021, with completion slated for 2023. PLANNET was selected to help with the low voltage infrastructure and design to convert the existing Scenic Arts Building. The historic, four-story, 15,792 SF building will have the fourth level converted to a 7,285 SF event space.
