Student housing modernization projects are becoming more and more essential to facilitate the latest in technology advancements.
Universities are competing to attract the brightest students and modern, high-tech accommodations are a selling point.
The Manzanita Hall at Arizona State University featured in this month’s Architectural Record is a diamond-shaped ’60s dormitory, which was adapted to meet the needs of today’s plugged-in students.
For this student housing modernization project, PlanNet worked with the Architect, Studio Ma, and American Campus Communities, the developer, to update the existing building to support the latest technologies. Wired and wireless connectivity is available throughout the residential units as well as all common areas. Audio visual elements such as a background music system were also incorporated.
“I really liked this building (Manzanita Hall), I actually applied early for this building because I knew that it was supposed to be really advanced and have all the newest technology.”
