PLANNET is part of the HLW and USC led consortium exploring building solutions to counter future pandemics.

HLW, the USC School of Architecture, the USC Keck School of Medicine, and a consortium of market-leading consulting firms including PLANNET, has launched  Project HÉROE, a new research initiative that addresses a need established by the World Health Organization for modular healthcare architecture that can be rapidly deployed wherever it is needed throughout the world.

Key questions this initiative seeks answers to include:

  • How can infrastructure curb future pandemics and allow people to interact unhindered by social distancing?
  • What can architects do to create systemic architectural solutions to address future pandemics?

This is the basis for the study where  USC Architecture students and HLW’s architects come together with industry thought leaders to help envision and create these new “built” environments. PLANNET’s own June Bardwil, Mark Berg, and TJ Hicks, played an integral role in assisting these students from the network infrastructure and security design perspective. The multi-week initiative wraps up this week and exciting possibilities are still emerging. We cannot wait to see how far this will go!
